Grayson government professor contributing author in new book

Grayson government professor, Dr. Pawel Goral, is a contributing author in a new book, "Currents in Transatlantic History: Encounters, Commodities, Identities." 

The forty-ninth annual Walter Prescott Webb Memorial Lecture Series —“Currents in Transatlantic Thought”—was organized to commemorate the fifteenth anniversary of the University of Texas at Arlington’s doctoral program in transatlantic history. Six alumni of the program, including Professor Goral, were invited to return and present their ongoing research in this new approach to history that focuses on the complex process of interchange and adaptation that began when Africans, Amerindians, and Europeans first came into contact.

The essays stemming from those lectures cover a variety of topics grouped around three unifying themes—encounters, commodities, and identities—that illustrate the potentiality of transatlantic history.

Goral is also author of Moral Community and Polish American Identity. Review of For More Than Bread: Community and Identity in American Polonia, 1880-1940, by Galush, William J.H-Net: Humanities and Social Sciences Online, November, 2009. His doctoral dissertation was published by the Palgrave Macmillan Press. It is entitled Cold War Rivalry and the Perception of the American West: Why Both Westerners and Easterners Played Cowboys and Indians (Palgrave Macmillian: March 2014) and is part of the publisher’s series on Transnational History.

Goral received his doctorate in History from University of Texas at Arlington in 2012.
